I enjoy literature classes.  Definitely, I have to write many research papers on literal works.  In most cases, I am proposed several research papers topics and have the right to choose the one I like the most.  I decided to write a research paper on the topic “The role of women in Ancient Egypt.”  I was very interested in this research paper topic.  As a woman, I am interested in the study of women’s role in society throughout the history.  I have read several books and guides on how to write a research paper, however, essay writing remained a problem for me.  I advised my tutor on how to start writing.  He told me a lot of interesting information about research paper writing and helped to generate good research paper ideas on the topic.  He gave me a research paper example to read.  With the help of my tutor, I have produced a good research paper.  Tutor is not an enemy, he is a friend who is always ready to give some helpful ideas and help with information search.

Returning to my research paper on the role of women in Ancient Egypt, I started my search with books and articles on the topic.  Every time I had a problem, I turned to my tutor for assistance and he was always willing to help.  He helped with formulating a clear thesis statement and gave general guidance on how to write introduction, body, and conclusion sections.  Thesis statement is the essential part of research paper writing process because it sets the overall direction of essay.  I came up with the following introduction:

“In the ancient world, Egyptian women enjoyed more freedom and independence that women in other countries.  However, there was no gender equality and women were considered to be inferior to men.  Ancient Egypt was regulated by the established order Maat which stressed that the life essence of women and men was very different.  Egyptian men bowed in front of women, they admired and cared about them.  At the same time, they demanded women’s attention and respect on the edge of surveillance … “

The purpose of my research paper writing was to investigate how women contributed to the social, political, and economic prosperity of Egypt.  Frankly speaking, I have found wealth of interesting information on the topic and I felt lost in the wealth of facts and assumptions.  I focused on the female characters in arts, in literature, in sculpture.  I devoted several sections to education and political career of Egyptian women, I wrote about Egyptian women and the law.  I have set a rather general direction for my research and starting writing.  It was not easy to write the first draft, however, the process of researching was really interesting.
